Using a Flash Drive to Display Digital Slides

Problem


How do I use a flash drive to display digital slides on the Samsung displays?

 

Environment


The article applies to Samsung displays at Gustavus.

 

Resolution


  1. Create digital slides and export the slides as .jpg/.jpeg with 1920x1080 resolution
    1. If you want others to submit slides, please have them email you the slides as .jpg files
  2. Save the images to a flash drive
  3. Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the Samsung display
  4. You may be prompted to choose what type of media you are inserting; choose Photos/Pictures. If you are not prompted:
    1. Press source on the remote or use the joystick on the back side of the TV (on the right-hand side)
    2. Highlight the flash drive source
    3. Click Enter
    4. Choose Photos/Pictures if prompted for media type
  5. Click Options
  6. Click Slide Show
  7. Click Play
  8. If there are any files not compatible, click skip
  9. Click Tools on the remote
  10. Scroll over and choose Slideshow settings (rectangle with gear symbol)
  11. Click Speed
  12. Choose slow (10 seconds)
  13. Click Exit on the remote

Note: If you are not able to use the TV controls, you may borrow a remote from GTS.

 

Cause


In some cases, using the slide show feature is necessary on digital signs at Gustavus.
