Problem
I have saved passwords in Chrome's Autofill that I want to directly view.
Environment
The article applies to all Chrome users.
Resolution
- Open Chrome
- Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the application
- Click Settings
- Click Autofill and passwords on the left side
- Click Google Password Manager
- Click the address of the website you want to see passwords for
- If prompted, enter your computer password
- Find the box that has the more precise website address listed under "Sites"
- In the password field, click the eye icon to show the password, or the rectangle icon to copy it to your clipboard
Cause
When you sign in or sign up to a website, Chrome usually saves the username and password that you entered. Chrome autofills these passwords directly into password fields when trying to log in to that website again, but they are not visible to you since they are all dots. You may need to see them for other purposes, such as logging in to a different device or remembering the password to a similar service.
