Software Center is a preinstalled program on all Gustavus-owned Apple computers that contains apps and printers that can be installed with no admin credentials.

The MacOS Software Center gives the employee the ability to install verified Gustavus-owned software on their machine without needing an appointment with GTS.

Where can I find Software Center?

You can find Software Center by either clicking the Gustavus icon in your dock, or by clicking on Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the upper right-hand corner) and typing in Software Center.

 

How do I use Software Center?

  1. Search or browse Software Center for the application/printer you would like to install, and click install
  2. To run any updates on the programs installed through Software Center, please click Notifications, and click Update to install the updates

 

Who can access Software Center?

Anyone with a Gustavus-owned Mac that is up to date with their management profile.

 

Is it free?

Yes, the applications are free to download; however, some applications listed in Software Center may require a paid subscription to use.

 

How do I request software to be added to Software Center?

You can send a request to helpline@gustavus.edu.
