Problem
I would like to capture an image of my computer screen.
Environment
The article applies to computers running Windows 10 or 11.
Resolution
There are a number of options for taking a screenshot in Windows.
- Print Screen (PrtScn) key: Press the "PrtScn" key on your keyboard or Fn+PrtScn on a Lenovo laptop keyboard. The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard. You can then paste it into an image editor such as Paint or a Google Doc to save it.
-
Windows Snipping Tool: This is a built-in tool in Windows that allows you to select a custom area of the screen to capture. You can access it by searching for "Snipping Tool" in the Start menu.
-
Windows + Shift + S: This keyboard shortcut will open the Snipping Tool in Windows 10, allowing you to select a custom area of the screen to capture.
-
Windows + PrtScn: This keyboard shortcut will take a screenshot of the entire screen and save it as a file in the "Screenshots" folder under "Pictures".
