How to Access your Home Directory on Campus (Windows)

Problem

I would like to access my home directory (Z-drive).

 

Environment

The article applies to Gustavus community members on campus using a Windows computer with an active Gustavus username.

 

Resolution

  1. From the Start Menu/Start Screen, start typing Computer or This PC
  2. Right-click on Computer or This PC and select Map network drive... from the list of options
  3. Input the following information:
    1. Drive: Z:
    2. Folder: \\home.gac.edu\username
      • Replace username with your Gustavus username
    3. Check Reconnect at sign-in
    4. Check Connect using different credentials
    5. Click on Finish
    6. When prompted, input your Gustavus username and password

 

Cause

You need to map a network drive to access it.
