Apple Laptop Screen is Flickering

Problem

Every so often, my laptop screen turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on.

 

Environment

The article applies to macOS users running OS Ventura or later.

 

Resolution

  1. Open System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar
  2. Select your display at the top of the window
  3. Turn off True Tone in the settings that appear for the selected display
    • This setting appears only for displays that support True Tone

 

Cause

Screen flickering is a reported bug with displays capable of True Tone.
