Problem

I purchased a new phone and want to set up 2-step verification on it.

The article applies to Gustavus community members with an active Gustavus account.

Download and open the Gmail app on your new phone.
Enter your username and password.
When asked for 2-step verification, click on try another way (located at the bottom right).
Click on Enter one of your 8-digit backup codes.
Enter one of your backup codes (if you do not have any backup codes, please contact the Technology Helpline).
Open a web browser such as Chrome.
Go to mail.google.com .
Sign into your account.
You should receive a prompt on your phone.
Click on Yes it's me.

When purchasing a new phone, to log into the Gmail app for the first time, you will need backup codes or access to the previous device.
