Problem
I want to convert a file to a PDF.
Environment
The article applies to Apple computer users running macOS 10 or newer.
Resolution

Open the file you want to convert to PDF in its native application (e.g., a Word document in Microsoft Word)

Click on File in the top menu bar, then select Print (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + P)

In the print dialog box that appears, click on the PDF drop-down menu in the bottom left corner

Select Save as PDF from the menu options

Choose a location to save the PDF file and give it a name

Click Save to convert the file to PDF and save it to your chosen location
Cause
Many file-editing applications offer a way to print the resulting file, which can be used to save the result as a PDF.
