Problem
My student needs more time on a quiz or a student needs a new due date on an assignment or quiz. This is known as an override or accommodations.
Environment
The article applies to Faculty that use Moodle
Resolution
Overrides are most commonly used in Assignments and Quizzes, and they can be set for individual students or groups.
Just a quick note: to use group overrides, your groups need to be set up ahead of time. If you choose a group override the steps are the same but it applies to all students in the group you choose.
- Log in to Moodle at moodle.gac.edu/
- Open your course
- Open the assignment.
- Click More, then choose Overrides.
- From the menu on the left, select User override
- Choose the student from the dropdown list.
- Now you can set exactly what this student needs:
- Open date
- Due date
- Cut-off date (assignments only)
- And the time allowed to complete (assignments only)
- Time Limit (Quiz only)
- Number of Attempts (Quiz only)
-
Click Save if you’re done, or Save and enter another override if you’re adding more students.
-
On this screen, you’ll always see your existing overrides — and you can edit, copy, or delete them.
-
That copy option is especially handy if multiple students need the same accommodation.
Cause
Moodle allows you to set overrides for students or groups.
